Her Majesty’s Lord Lieutenant Cadet for Cheshire

Sir Thomas Boteler Church of England High School Headteacher Mrs Scott-Herron and Head of RS Mrs Coleclough were invited as Special Guests to Chester Town Hall to see Year 11 student Able Cadet Ruth Hendry (Cheshire Sea Cadets Corps) receive the highest cadet award possible as Her Majesty’s Lord Lieutenant Cadet for Cheshire.

The Lord-Lieutenant’s Cadet is seen as the aide and representative of the cadet forces to the British royal family and the Lord-lieutenant in an administrative county of England, Scotland, Wales & Northern Ireland. Typically, one is chosen from each of the main cadet forces, the Army Cadet Force, Air Training Corps and Sea Cadets (United Kingdom).

They provide an essential link between the armed forces and the local community, assist with recruiting within the cadet forces and assist the county’s Reserve Forces and Cadets Association. The cadet from each arm of the cadet forces is selected and appointed based on their outreach and participation within their squadron, detachment or unit, and is seen as one of the highest achievements in the Cadet Forces.

Mrs Scott-Herron said “It was a real honour to be invited to such a prestigious occasion by Ruth herself and how could I let her down. It was the highlight for my half term and we are immensely proud of Ruth and her achievements within the Sea Cadets. Not only is she a fantastic ambassador for Sir Thomas Boteler Church of England High School, but she is utilising her amazing skill set on a national level. We are so excited to see her journey in this role as she is and will be an inspiration to so many.”
