Mrs Guttridge

I’ve always followed my interests when it comes to education and career choices — which has led me on a creative and varied path. At school, I picked subjects I genuinely enjoyed: Triple Science, Art, Digital Art, Film Studies, and Modern World History. I didn’t have a clear career plan at the time, but I knew I loved the arts.

For A-Levels, I went to Cronton College and chose Textiles, Photography, and Film Studies, with a short stint in Media Studies at AS Level. After that, I stayed an extra year to complete an Art Foundation course, specialising in conceptual textiles, which cemented my love for visual storytelling and design.

I went on to study Textile Design at De Montfort University in Leicester, specialising in Printed Textiles in my second year, and graduated with a 2:1. After Uni, I moved back home and spent a few years trying out different roles — from office manager and magazine editor at te UK’s leading Garage Kit (painting models) hobby company, to running an art gallery/tattoo studio, and even managing a children’s pottery café. Each job taught me something new and kept me close to creativity.

Eventually, I came across an advert for a teacher training course at Bridgewater High School with TCAT and decided to go for it. During my second week on placement at Sir Thomas Boteler, I mentioned to Mrs. Scott-Herron that I’d love to be considered for a future art teaching role. That moment helped me realise that teaching art felt like the right next step — a way to share everything I’ve learned while inspiring others to explore their own creativity.
