We have provision for 2 parent local governing committee members and there are currently 2 vacancies.

The Governing Body, with the Headteacher, has overall responsibility for the running of the school.  Governing Bodies have 3 core strategic functions:

  • Ensuring clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction;
  • Holding the Headteacher to account for the educational performance of the school and its students; and
  • Overseeing the financial performance of the school and making sure its money is well spent

We currently have 1 vacancy on the Finance, HR & Operations Committee and 1 vacancy on the Ethos & Community Committee.

Finance, HR & Operations Committee

  • Financial management/ accountancy
  • Procurement/ purchasing
  • Premises and facilities management
  • Health and Safety

Ethos and Community Committee

  • Religious Education and Collective Worship
  • Christian Values and Ethos
  • Community Links (school, church, community, parents)
  • Transition and stakeholders (primary schools)
  • Marketing and PR

Whilst no specific qualifications are required, we would particularly welcome nominations from parents with key skills and experience within the above areas.  You are not required to have skills and experience in all of the aspects, the most important thing is to have a keen and committed interest in the school and be prepared to play an active part in the Governing Body’s work.

Training is available for all local governors and there is an expectation that those new to being a Local Governing Committee Member, attend free induction training.

The Qualifications and Disqualifications guidance summarises the circumstances under which someone cannot serve as a local governor. Nominations must be from parents, or individuals exercising parental responsibility, of a child at the academy.

If you would like to stand for election, please complete the nomination form and return it to the Returning Officer at school no later than Friday 26 January 2018. You may also include a short personal statement to support your nomination, which should be no longer than 250 words. Self-nominations will be accepted but if you are nominating another parent, please seek their prior consent.

If there are more nominations than vacancies the election will be by secret ballot. If that is necessary, voting papers will be sent to all parents together with details of the ballot procedure.
