Table tennis

This years table tennis club is running Friday after school from 3pm to 5pm, with all pupils welcome.

Boteler again have had success at table tennis with Qualification for the Cheshire School Games, to represent Warrington in the u13s category. This is a mixed competition (two boys, two girls) for new and none graded players, this is a competition where we have had recent success, achieving gold medals in 2011. This years teams is Reon Reid, Arron Chapman, Molly Bennett and Amy Heaton. This was achieved by retaining the Warrington Schools u13s title for the 5th year. Boteler have also had success in the recent Warrington U15s table tennis championship, held here in the Old Gym and Drama studio. Boteler entered two teams, with Lymm’s late withdrawl it was only a three team competition with Boteler’s A & B and also Great Sankey. In the U15s Boteler’s B team started with a game vs Great Sankey, the aim of this was to allow the ‘B’ team competitive games without pressure, despite their hard work team ‘B’ lost 8-0 to Great Sankey. Next match picked Boteler’s A vs Great Sankey, this proved a much stiffer competition for Sankey who found the experience of the boteler boys much too strong to handle with Boteler A winning the fixture 6-2. In the final game Boteler B took on Boteler A, despite their efforts Boteler A achieved an 8-0 win to retain the u15s which has been held since its conception in 2010. All the teams who took part were a credit to their school and with Boteler fielding two members of the u13s team in the u15s ‘B’ team, there were also great benefits to players gaining valuable game time.

Boteler ‘A’ Team

Boteler ‘B’ Team

After Christmas there will be the Cheshire School individual Table Tennis Championships, where again Boteler go in with high hopes. Philip Smith who was u13s Champion last year has now moved up to u16s, as have all the members of the Cheshire Schools team event at u13s, plus with our outstanding challenge from year 10 lead by Morgan Adawee and Louis Jameson we are hoping for another golden year.

We are also running a Christmas competition on the last day of term, with prizes on offer for the winning players, well it is Christmas!

To close I would like to encourage all those who wish to represent the school this year in the individual championships at widnes to let me know and be prepared to practice at school whether on a Friday evening after school or at another arranged time. You are the best, do not let it slip!
