HurrayAt Sir Thomas Boteler Church of England High School we are celebrating a phenomenal set of GCSE examination results. We are very proud of all our Year 11 students.

The overall headline figure currently stands at 54% 5 A*-C including English and Maths. Alongside English and Maths we have had major successes in RE at 82% A*-C, History 69% A*-C and Drama and Music at 67% A*-C.

We always pride ourselves on providing students with a broad and inclusive curriculum to ensure it gives them the best options for future pathways and careers.  It was great to hear of the successes of some our past students last week who are now moving onto University or Apprencticeships.

Boys+BevSome of our notable individual success stories are Emily Dimeloe who achieved 3 A* and 9 As, Emma Fellows 5 A*, 4 As and 1 B, Abigail Jarvis 2 A*, 6 As and 2 Bs, Chloe Menzies 3 A*, 4 As, 2 Bs and 1 C,  Liam Bragg 1 A*,6 As,3 Bs and 1 C, Daniel Owen 1 A*, 6 As and 3 Bs, Abigail Titchard 1 A*, 6 As, 4 Bs and 1 C.  Some of our student leaders achieved highly with our Head Girl, Sophia Smith achieving 1 A*, 5 As, 1 B and 1 C whilst our Deputy Head Girl and Head Boy were the school’s highest performers; Charlotte Davies achieving 5 A*, 5As and 1 B and Scott Johnston achieving 5A*, 5 As and 1 B too.  I could not be more proud of our Class of 2016, as they have exceeded all expectations.  We wish them every success in the future and look forward to celebrating with them at their presentation evening on 17th November at 7pm.

We have had to work so hard to improve expectations, aspirations and standards from where we were in September 2014; our driver being improving the life chances of all our students. I was always firm in my belief not to apply the ‘sticking plaster’ approach to improvements. Sustainable improvement takes time and this is now evident in our results. The immeasurable progress that has been observed by so many external visitors to our school has now been validated by our class of 2016.

This year has not been without its challenges, with all the changes in education, cuts in funding and not to mention a fire too. However, in the face of adversity we always find solutions to these problems and overcome any barriers in our way because we are a team. Everyone in our organisation counts and the students are and will always be our priority. They have all embraced the vision and live it through their daily practice.  ‘High Expectations, High Aspirations and High Standards’ are the key to our success and really do matter.  The Class of 2016 and the staff have put this mantra into practice and succeeded.  We are confident that both them and us as a School will continue to go from strength to strength.

Well done!
