Year 5 and 6 extra-curricular

Welcome Year 5 and 6. I do hope that you are safe and well during this lockdown. Here at Sir Thomas Boteler Church of England High School we feel that it is extremely important that you start to understand about high school in Year 5, this will help to prepare you for when you start in Year 7. That is why we are inviting you to take part in these Art, Music and Sport extra-curricular sessions. We will keep adding activities to this webpage, but please feel free to use it as and when you would like to.

As you can see we have a Transition section on our website, so take a look at this too, to help you start preparing for high school. – Mrs Mawby, Assistant Headteacher

Art

Hello Year 5 and Year 6.

I am very proud to introduce you to our Art Department at our school, where Mrs Guttridge and I teach. My name is Mrs Joice and I will be your Head of the department. We’re both here to teach you lots of art skills and show you how you can enjoy art, no matter what your skill is.

We have recently developed our Art Department YouTube channel with demonstrations and introductions to different techniques and topics, that we explore with students at all levels. Below are a few sample videos that you can try. If you would like to see a particular demonstration on how to create something please email sjoice@boteler.org.uk with your request, and we will see what we can do!

I would love to share this channel with you so you can dip in and out of the videos.

I would like to invite you to get involved in a Music Club where you will get the chance to try bucket drumming, sing pop songs, make up your own music and even get involved in virtual performances. Everyone is welcome to try the activities and have some fun with Music. – Mrs Clarke, Head of Music

PE

Be part of TEAM BOTELER.

PE, school sport and physical activity at Sir Thomas Boteler Church of England High School enhances physical health, boosts mental wellbeing, builds resilience, lifts academic achievement and creates active habits for life in our students. It also instils in young people the core values of creativity, aspirations, resilience and empathy which in turn contribute to wellbeing and achievement. Our unique staff and student relationships will ensure every student is supported yet challenged to be their best.

Put simply, it is our view that PE makes a unique contribution to students’ wellbeing and is the most powerful subject in terms of its impact on both physical and emotional health. Come and be part of TEAM PE and have the opportunity to learn new skills, improve your knowledge of everything from sport tactics to fitness training, and even embark on our sport leadership programme.

We promote a love of PE and Sport, provide opportunities to participate and compete, allowing our students to achieve and excel. – Mr Burbidge, Director of Sport and Performance
