National Poetry Day 2013

Poems2The classrooms of Sir Thomas Boteler were flooded with the sound of beautiful poetry as pupils took part in this year’s ‘water’ themed National Poetry Day.

Forms worked together to draft poems which were then judged by the Student Leadership Team. House Captains had a difficult task of choosing the best poems from their own houses and these were then judged to find the overall winner by Head Boy and Girl, Sam Osborne and Clarise Lawrence.

TJM were the proud winners of a tin of chocolates, with their wonderful imagery packed poem “A Waterfall.”

Selections of the best poems are now being displayed in reception, for everyone to enjoy. Please enjoy reading their fantastic poem.

A Waterfall by TJM

A waterfall, what a stunning sight
Shimmering in the daylight
The water of life so bright

A waterfall has a magical glow
Don’t you know?
It keeps you awake, it keeps you alive
For all of the days that you survive

A waterfall, what a stunning sight
Submerge yourself in its stormy might
To splash and jump to your delight
