Key learning: To write a short paragraph about themselves giving their name, age, birthday and three items they have in their bags including colours.

Title of assessment: TRANSLATION AND WRITING
Skills assessed: Use a range of vocabulary and structures. Accurate use of verbs AVOIR and ETRE in the Je/tu/il/elle form in the present tense. Correct use of adjective agreements. Correct use of possessive adjectives. Formation of questions in French.
Key learning: To enable students to write details about themselves including name, age, birthday, hair and eye colour, height and personality. They must describe a friend or family member. Students will have to show knowledge of being able to use the verbs AVOIR and ETRE accurately.
WA3
Title of assessment: SPEAKING
Skills assessed: Pronunciation and intonation.
Use a range of vocabulary and structures.
Initiating and sustaining a conversation.
Memorising. Adapt previously learned language.
Accurate use of key verbs in the present tense. Fluency.
Key learning: To describe yourself including eye and hair colour plus your height and personality. To talk about your house and say what rooms are on each floor. To say if you have your own bedroom or share a bedroom. Name the furniture in your bedroom.
Year 8
WA1
Title of assessment: TRANSLATION AND WRITING
Skills assessed: GCSE examination type practice at translating from English to French plus an essay question the same as GCSE bullet point format.
Key learning: To write about their evening routine and activities, using connectives, times, places and opinions.
WA2
Title of assessment: TRANSLATION AND WRITING
Skills assessed: To enable students to translate a short passage from English to French which is now part of the new GCSE French examination. Accurate use of reflexive verbs in the present tense in the Je/tu/il/elle subject pronouns. To ensure that students use appropriate connectives to link their sentences. Use extended sentences and justify their opinions with regard to opinions on school subjects.
Key learning: To be able to describe your morning routine and show evidence of being able to accurately use reflexive verbs.
To talk about likes/dislikes of school subjects with appropriate reasons.
WA3
Title of assessment: SPEAKING
Skills assessed: Pronunciation and intonation. Use a range of vocabulary and structures. Initiating and sustaining a conversation. Memorising. Adapt previously learned language. Accurate use of key verbs in the present tense. Fluency.
Key learning: To talk about what sports you play, how often and with whom. To say what your favourite sport is and why. To say what other leisure activities you do in your spare time and what type of activities you do in specific weather conditions.
Year 9

Skills assessed: To enable students to be given GCSE examination type practice at translating from English to French and an essay question the same as the GCSE format.
Key learning: To enable students to write about films/TV programmes they like/dislike with appropriate reasons. To write about what sports they do, how often and why.

Title of assessment: TRANSLATION AND WRITING
Skills assessed: To enable students to translate a short passage from English to French which is now a requirement of the new GCSE examination. To use expressions of frequency and the formation of negative structures such as NE..PAS/ NE..PLUS/ NE..JAMAIS.
To demonstrate knowledge of using future time frame using verb ALLER plus an infinitive. To use a wide range of vocabulary and structures and give justified opinions.
Key learning: To be able to write about whether you are fit and healthy and what you can do to improve your fitness/health covering topics such as sports, diet and lifestyle.
WA3

Accurate use of key verbs in the present and perfect tense. Justification of opinions and use of extended sentences. Fluency.
Key learning: To be able to talk about your holidays giving details about where you went, who you went with and for how long, how you travelled, why you decided to go there, where you stayed, the weather, the activities you did and your opinion of the holiday.
