Becoming a Digital Citizen

Skills assessed:

Folder structure, emails, types of computer hardware and different type of computer software.

Key learning:

To know the importance of a good folder structure

To investigate how email works and why we use it every day.

To understand what hardware is and be able identify a range of pieces of hardware.

explain the difference between system and application software and explanations to why and in what situation we would use these.

WA2

Title of assessment:

Being an ICT Savvy User

Skills assessed:

Health and safety issues, e safety, online danger, search engine and portable technology.

Key learning:

Explaining health and safety when using computers

Understand the term e-safety.

Understand the risks online and to know how to keep yourself safe online.

Improve our search engine searches to return appropriate results

List the dangers that you could be faced when using portable technology; particularly mobile phones

WA3

Spreadsheet

Skills assessed:

Spreadsheet calculation

Key learning:

Identify the key parts of a spreadsheet and insert data into your model and apply suitable layout/formatting options to a spreadsheet model

Identify basic spreadsheet formula  

Identify how the =IF function can be applied to spreadsheets and conditional formatting

Creation of graphs and charts with data labels and titles

 

Year 8

WA1

Title of assessment:

Advanced spreadsheet

Skills assessed:

Spreadsheet calculations, data valuation, charts and V look up

Key learning:

Understand what spreadsheets are and what they are used for in the outside world.

Spreadsheets contains formatted data and multiple formulae used to calculate totals of our holiday items

Spreadsheet contains more advanced functions to work out averages, minimum and maximum numbers of our items total costs

Add advanced functions into your model. Apply data validation independently and create hyperlinked buttons.

To create IF statements on famous faces spreadsheet, to apply conditional formatting to your if statement cells

Create a number of charts using data from our model. We will format our chart with clear labels

Create a V Looks up function in our model Create a summary worksheet on it will contain hyperlinked buttons to print our model in a variety of ways

WA2

Computer Science

Skills assessed:

Binary conversion, binary calculation, image manipulation, binary logic gates, IPO system, computer networks,

Key learning:

Be able to explain binary and Looks at hexadecimal independently

Be able to convert binary numbers to denary numbers

Develop an understanding of how images are represented using binary and how storage space differs depending on your images.

Use our knowledge of computational thinking to develop electronic circuits for a range of binary Logic gates.

Develop and understanding of how computers work: inputting data, processing data and outputting information.

Look at three types of computer network,

Graphics and Database

Skills assessed:

Graphics – Creating magazine cover using Fireworks skills such as crop, magic wand, polygon, rubber tool, layers and etc.

Database – Creating database, insert, delete and amend data, creating database relationship, queries, forms and report.

Key learning:

Graphics – Unit introduction/baseline assessment, Looking at the different types of graphic and the advantages and disadvantages of each. Identify the purpose of each graphic and the best use of each file type.

Introduction to Fireworks and create a graphic by using basic drawing tools to manipulate an image.

Learn features of good presentations and design

Self and peer assessment

Database – Introduction to database, record, field, data types and Microsoft Access.

Create a database using specific software.

Learn how to insert, delete and amend records in table, set up new fields in table and set up the data types and restrictions.

Be able to explain Database relationships and create relationship diagram of given database.

Design queries to display relevant information on to the screen

Take queries and create a report.

Change report to make it user friendly and include buttons.

LI6: Create a form for database tables. Include buttons on form to help users navigate around the database form.

 

Year 9

WA1

Title of assessment:

Problem Solving

Skills assessed:

Algorithm, flowchart, pseudocode and computation thinking.   

Key learning:

Looking at what an algorithm is, Appreciating the importance of algorithms in computer science and writing and interpreting algorithms

Understand the purpose of a flowcharts. Know how to construct a flow chart using the required symbols.

Understand the purpose of pseudocode and write pseudocode for the given scenario

Learning to use condition and iteration in algorithm

Learning to use nested if statement and nested Loop in the algorithm.

Learning what computational thinking is.

Defining decomposition and abstraction. Decomposing problems. Bringing together a range of skills to complete a problem

WA2

Skills assessed:

Python programing, variable, integer and string, if statement, loop and list.

Key learning:

Looking at the basics of Python and the Python shell.

Student will then go on to Looks at algorithms, variables and inputs

Looking at integers and strings and Looking at how to convert integers to strings

Looking at if statements in Python, what if statements are and why we use them; Nested if statements.

Implement “While Loop” in Python

Looking at what a for Loop is, discuss the difference between for and while Loop. Attempting some for Loop tasks.

Looking at what a list is;

And use different methods to printing a list on the screen.

WA3

Title of assessment:

Photoshop and Web Designing

Skills assessed:

Photoshop – Creating Hybridge animal using Photoshop skills such as layers, clone, magic wand, eraser, eye drop tool, select tool and etc.

Web Designing – HTML, Dream Viewer skills and fireworks skills to create banner, logo and buttons.

Key learning:

Photoshop – Be able to understand how image manipulation is used in real world and the consequences. Be aware of the some of the basic tools of image manipulation software and how they can be used

Be able to understand how bitmap graphics are representing inside computer and are able to manipulate image using image manipulation software to produce different outcome.

Begin to understand what copyright is and the consequences of breaking copyright law

Be able to critically evaluate your and other work and to suggest improvements.

Are able to refine their work to make it more professional.

Web Designing – Be able to create basic web page adding text, background colour, foreground colours, hyperlink, image using HTML coding

Identify the purpose and intend target audience of websites.

 Use Firework skills to create buttons and animated banner

Use Dreamweaver to create website including home page and at least other 4 pages.
