GCSE Citizenship visit to London

On Monday 16th December a group of GCSE Citizenship pupils visited the Houses of Parliament in London. We met up with our MP David Mowatt and took part in a workshop about how voting and elections work. We got to tour the Parliamentary Estate and go inside the House of Commons.

In the evening we took in the sights of London all decorated for Christmas and had a meal in the Hard Rock Cafe then on to see Wicked in the West End before settling down for the night in our hotel. Tuesday saw us take in a flight on the London eye and a boat ride down the Thames.

“We all had a brilliant time, Wicked was amazing at the theatre and I really enjoyed the parliament tour and it opened a wider picture of the government and a better understanding of citizenship, the Hard Rock Cafe was gorgeous and we all would like to thank Mr Antrobus, Mrs Taylor, Mr Wood and of course Mrs Coleclough.” Ethan Scott  london2

“This has been one of the best trips in school and we all had such a good time and experienced so much in only 2 days, Olivia and I loved Wicked, it was the best show we had seen! Parliament was very interesting and I really enjoyed learning about all the different roles and places! I really enjoyed the London trip 2013 and would like to thanks all the teachers that took us!” Molly Whitty

“I thought this trip was really good! Wicked was so good and the tour around Parliament was also really interesting, not to mention the London Eye. I had a really good time and would recommend that people go in the future.” Georgina Matthews

“I enjoyed the workshop in parliament; it helped us to understand more about how things work and gave us the opportunity to ask questions that may help us in future citizenship lessons. The food in the Hard Rock Cafe was lovely and overall it was a really great trip, everyone enjoyed themselves and wants to come again.” Elisha Barker

“One of the best trips running, the trip may only last two days, but I will remember those two days as a time where I got to spend time with my friends, learn about Parliament and had the most fun. Every minute of the trip to London was absolutely fabulous!” Courtney Bates

“It was interesting to meet our MP (David Mowatt) and the theatre was amazing with a very entertaining play.” Olivia Bate, Rachel Bate and Ellie Hartley

“I really enjoyed the whole trip, especially the London Eye, usually I’m scared of heights but as soon as I walked on the pod it felt really safe. I also had an amazing experience at Parliament.” Matthew Stout

“To be honest there was no great part it was all amazing and I would like to thank Mrs. Coleclough, Mr Antrobus, Mrs Taylor and Mr Wood for this wonderful trip and I would gladly go again.” Abigail McDonald

“Every part of this trip was fab! There was always something to do, and every part of it was fun. The best part was the London Eye! It was awesome to see everything on one extremely huge wheel! It may only last 2 days but I will never forget them.” Abigail Morley
