Boteler Progress in England Schools Basketball Competition

Sir Thomas Boteler booked their passage to the next stage of the England Schools Basketball Competition with a magnificent victory over a very strong Ellesmere Port Catholic High School team.

Boteler 55 – Ellesmere Port CHS 47!

Boteler got off to a tremendous start with good early baskets from Cameron Burrows and Josh McLean, and held the lead for virtually the rest of the game, although at one point towards the end, they were pulled back to level pegging.

Following a much needed time-out, the boys showed great resolve and skill to run out eventual victors against a team with great tradition in the competition.

All team members played superbly, but in addition to Cameron and Josh, special mention should go to the other starting five players who played the majority of the game, defying fatigue and showing a never say die attitude. Particularly impressive was Charlie Spencer who was making his debut for the school. He has an excellent sporting pedigree, and I look forward to watching his continued efforts on both the basketball court and rugby field.
